Fairy Ring Mushroom

Fairy ring mushroom (Marasmius oreades) is a small, tan, tough-stemmed grassland fungus that fruits in circles on lawns and pastures. Caps are nutty and sweet when dried or sautéed; stems are usually discarded as wiry. Excellent in powder, sauces, and egg dishes. Careful identification is required to avoid toxic lookalikes in grass.
