Syrup
Grenadine
Grenadine is a prepared red bar syrup traditionally based on pomegranate—sweet, lightly tart, and vivid—used for colour and fruit sweetness in cocktails and sodas. Many commercial versions are flavoured sugar syrups rather than pure pomegranate molasses. Distinct from thick culinary pomegranate molasses: grenadine is pourable and candy-bright. Use in tequila sunrise, Shirley Temple, and mocktails.

History
French grenadine named pomegranate-based sweet syrups for drinks.
American soda fountains made grenadine a bright red bar staple.
Craft grenadines returned to real pomegranate while mass-market versions stayed flavoured syrups.
