Cookie policy
This page describes the cookies Ingredient Index uses. It should be read with the privacy policy.
Last updated: 28 September 2026.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. Some are essential for the page you asked for. Others help us see how the catalogue is used. You can delete or block cookies in your browser; if you block essential cookies, shopping lists and sign-in may stop working.
Cookies we set
| Name | Purpose | Duration | Type |
|---|---|---|---|
ingredientindex_list_key |
Identifies a guest shopping list so items stay on later visits. A random key only; not your name or email. Marked essential and HttpOnly. | Up to 365 days | Strictly necessary |
ASP.NET Identity cookie (typically .AspNetCore.Identity.Application) |
Keeps you signed in when accounts are enabled. Set only after you log in or register. | About 14 days, renewed while you keep using the site | Strictly necessary (accounts) |
Antiforgery cookie (typically .AspNetCore.Antiforgery.*) |
Helps stop cross-site request forgery on forms such as login and register. | Session / short-lived | Strictly necessary |
Google Analytics cookies (typically _ga, _ga_*) |
Measure visits and in-site navigation for the Ingredient Index property. Set by Google’s gtag on this site when Analytics is configured. | Up to 2 years | Analytics |
Other similar technology
- Google tag (gtag.js). When a measurement ID is configured, the site loads Google’s script to record page views, including Blazor in-app navigation. Google may process that data under its own terms. See Google’s documentation for Analytics cookies and advertising features in your Google account.
- Umami. When enabled, the site sends page-view events to a first-party analytics service we operate or host. That measurement is for site statistics. It is not used to sell advertising profiles.
- Blazor Server. Interactive pages keep a live connection to the server. That uses ordinary HTTPS and, where needed, short-lived framework cookies or tokens to keep the session stable. They are not advertising cookies.
What we do not use these cookies for
We do not use the shopping-list or sign-in cookies to run third-party ad networks on this site. Analytics is for understanding which catalogue pages are used.
Your controls
- Browser settings can block or delete cookies. Blocking
ingredientindex_list_keywill start a new empty guest list on the next visit. - Signing out clears the account cookie. Closing an account disables the account.
- Google provides opt-out and ad-personalisation controls in a Google account, where you have one. You can also use browser tracking-prevention features.
There is no separate cookie banner because essential cookies are required to provide the list and security functions you request. Analytics cookies may still be stored by Google if that tag is active; use your browser if you do not want them.
Changes
We may add, rename, or remove cookies as the site changes. This page will be updated when we do.
