Shelled
Shelled cashew is kernel stock already removed from the hard shell and ready for immediate cooking or snacking. Convenience is high; shelf life is shorter than well-stored raw in- shell trade lots if the pantry is warm. Taste should be sweet-milky with a soft crunch and a clean aroma free of paint or cardboard. Industrial shelling and heat processing have already managed the caustic shell liquid—this is the safe everyday form. Ready for roasting, soaking, grinding, or straight snacking. Vacuum packs help but still deserve cool storage after opening. Check for shell shards before serving children. Broken pieces in a “shelled whole” bag are common in lower grades; re-sort if presentation matters. Compared with pre-ground meal, shelled stock lets you control freshness of every grind you make at home.
