Nuts
Whole Kernel
Whole almond kernels are complete, unbroken seed meats sold for snacking, topping, and controlled chopping. Intact surfaces oxidise a little slower than fine pieces and look premium on pastries, salads, and cheese boards. Fresh wholes are plump and evenly coloured, with a clean sweet taste and a soft snap. Toast them in a moderate oven, shaking often, then cool fully before packing so residual heat does not steam away the crunch. Use whole kernels when appearance matters—baklava garnish, cake decoration, or a bowl of mixed nuts. Pick out chipped, shrivelled, or rancid pieces before service; one bad kernel is memorable for the wrong reason. Premium Extra No. 1 style grades favour size and shape consistency for slicing lines and retail jars. Store cool and airtight after opening. Whole is the form to buy when you want to decide later whether to slice, grind, or leave intact. Broken manufacturing stock is cheaper for butter, but it will not plate as neatly.
