Grain
Mixed Grain
Mixed-grain bread blends wheat with oats, barley, rye, seeds, or ancient grains for denser crumb, nuttier flavour, and more texture. Seeds (sunflower, flax, sesame) often stud the crust and interior. It is heartier than white sandwich bread and suits toast, avocado, and strong toppings. Slice thin if very dense; toasting improves aroma. Moisture and shelf life vary with seed oil content—store cool. Not all “multigrain” loaves are whole grain; check whether refined flour still dominates.
