Fruit
Malling Jewel
B tier
Malling Jewel is a classic English mid-season floricane raspberry with medium berries, fine old-fashioned flavour, and a place in twentieth-century British garden and commercial history. Fruit is aromatic and sweet-tart rather than oversized; modern large-berry types often outsize it on the shelf. Canes are productive in cool maritime climates when disease pressure is managed. Superb for traditional jam, summer pudding, and same-day eating from the plot. Less ideal for long refrigerated shipping. Seek heritage nurseries and older gardens for true stock.
