Sweetheart is a Florida-selected lychee with high flesh recovery, relatively small seeds, and sweet flavour that improved on older Brewster seediness for many growers. Fruit colours well and suits fresh gourmet markets. It represents newer New World breeding aims: more aril, less pit. Excellent for chefs and gift boxes where seed waste frustrates diners. Still requires full colour and careful postharvest humidity. Availability follows Florida and similar subtropical seasons.
