Hak Ip (Hei Ye / Black Leaf) is a classic Chinese lychee with dark green foliage, medium fruit, and excellent sweet flavour that made it a traditional favourite in Guangdong and beyond. Shell is red with some green tinges depending on maturity; aril is juicy and fragrant. It is less about giant size than balanced eating quality. Strong for everyday premium fresh eating in Chinese season. Appears in diaspora markets labeled with Chinese names. Keep cold; Hak Ip suffers shell desiccation like all lychees.
