Hibiscus syrup is the generic cafe name: same family as roselle cordial, sometimes milder, sometimes mixed with berry for colour. Useful when a recipe says hibiscus syrup not sorrel. Still tart, still red. If it tastes only of sugar and dye, it is a grenadine cousin, not hibiscus.
