Kentucky Wonder is a historic American pole bean with flat-to-oval pods, rich flavour, and vigorous vines that feed families over a long pick—sometimes still slightly stringy in older strains compared with modern snaps. Seeds can be shelled later if pods mature. The name evokes Southern and Appalachian garden memory more than supermarket plastic trays. Best cooked a bit longer than filet beans—braise, pot with potatoes, or pickle dilly beans. Poles need trellis. Flavour depth rewards old-fashioned cookery.
