Skeena is a late Canadian dark cherry with very large fruit, glossy black-red skin, and firm juicy flesh that packs for distant markets. Sweetness runs high with enough acid to avoid cloying; stems stay green and long when handled well. Self-fertile trees crop in the post-Bing window, overlapping Sweetheart and other lates depending on climate. Chosen for export programmes that need size and firmness after mid-season volume clears. Fresh eating is excellent chilled; pitting for late-season baking works when fruit is abundant. Rain near harvest still warrants covers in wet districts despite improved modern genetics.
