Navaho

Navaho is an erect thornless blackberry from Arkansas breeding—medium-large firm fruit, sweet flavour, and upright canes that need less elaborate trailing trellis work. Berries ship better than soft wild types and colour to a deep black with good gloss when ripe. It helped make thornless blackberries practical for smaller commercial blocks. Excellent fresh, in yogurt, and for bakery toppings where berries must hold shape. Heat and humidity demand timely harvest to avoid soft fruit. Fully ripe Navaho is notably sweeter than underripe firm picks sold early.
