Blue walleye was a distinct Great Lakes form (Sander vitreus glaucus) with bluish tones, now considered extinct as a fishery resource after mid-twentieth-century collapse. It is not available as food. Flesh was reportedly excellent, like yellow walleye. Listed only for historical completeness. Do not expect blue walleye on any honest menu. Modern “blue” marketing of ordinary walleye is not this lost form.
