Granular Blend

S tier

Granular sucralose blend is the yellow-packet idea in a jar: sucralose on maltodextrin or dextrose so a teaspoon approximates a teaspoon of sugar in sweetness. Coffee, baking mixes, and tabletop bowls use it. You are eating mostly carrier; the sucralose is a dust on it. It will not caramelise like sugar. Some blends brown a little from the dextrose carrier and fool no pastry chef. Convenient, stable, and a poor choice if you wanted zero digestible carbohydrate—read the bulk agent.

History

Tabletop sucralose blends on maltodextrin made the high-intensity sweetener spoonable.

US

Retail granular sucralose (the familiar yellow brand) entered US grocery.

Own-brand granular blends filled bakery and food-service dispensers.

Low-carb buyers learned to read whether the carrier was maltodextrin or a polyol.
