Donut Peach

A tier

Donut peach is the marketplace name for flat, saucer-shaped peento-type peaches with a sunken centre, white or yellow flesh, and usually freestone pits that pop free easily. Flavour is sweet and mild with less juice drip than large round melt peaches; skin is often less fuzzy and easy to eat whole like an apple. Size is small—two or three make a snack. Kid-friendly and lunchbox-friendly; also charming halved on cheese boards. Less ideal for classic cobbler volume because each fruit is petite. Buy fully coloured and slightly soft—flat types still need true ripeness for aroma.
