Syrup
Arenga Palm Syrup
S tier
Arenga (sugar palm) syrup is boiled Arenga pinnata sap, the liquid sibling of gula aren: smoky-caramel, mineral, the Indonesian kitchen pour for cendol, coffee, and grilled meats. It is darker and more rum-like than coconut blossom syrup. A spoon in iced coffee is classic. Solid gula jawa/aren is the block form of a related boil—this leaf is the liquid.
