Rock Hyssop

Rock hyssop is the compact, low, often prostrate form used in rock gardens and dry walls—commonly tied to H. officinalis subsp. aristatus—with smaller stature and dense flowering. Leaves still read as true hyssop: minty, bitter, camphoraceous. Drought tolerance exceeds lank ordinary garden hyssop once established. Pinch for the same cautious culinary uses in smaller yields; value is as much horticultural as gastronomic. Excellent bee plant in poor soils. Do not expect bulk dried herb production from tiny mats.
