Hallertau

Beverage

Hallertau

S tier

Hallertau (Hallertauer Mittelfrüh and related) is the Bavarian noble hop family—mild, floral-herbal, slightly woody—central to German lager tradition. Alpha is modest; aroma is refined. Disease pressure pushed breeding of Hallertau-derived replacements, but the name still signals noble German character. Traditional in Munich lagers, bocks, and wheat beers for gentle bitterness. Whole cone and pellet both used. Pair with clean malt bills.
