Samdal
A tier
Samdal is a Danish-bred European elderberry cultivar with large fruit clusters and upright growth for commercial and garden plantings in northern Europe. Berries process into aromatic dark juice; yields are competitive. Part of the “Sam” series that modernised Scandinavian elder production. Cook for syrup and cordial bases; flowers of elder are a separate harvest if clean. Prune for light into the canopy. Suitable for cooler Nordic summers versus heat-loving fruit. Freeze berries on stems for winter batches.
