Red Sex Link is a generic commercial hybrid brown-egg layer class in which red or gold pullet plumage differs from cockerel colour at hatch, enabling early sexing without vent sexing. Parent crosses vary by hatchery (often Rhode Island Red-type males on white or silver hens), but all aim for high brown-egg yield and feed efficiency rather than pure-breed form. Spent hens and surplus males supply lean, mild meat for stewing, soup, shredding, mince, and everyday cooking. As a commercial hybrid layer/sex-link type, Red Sex Link birds are egg-first genetics, not dedicated meat or heritage dual-purpose stock.
