Jersey is an older late-mid highbush cultivar with smaller, aromatic berries that many tasters find more flavourful than modern ultra-firm shipping types. Skins are thinner; shelf life is shorter, so Jersey shines in local and u-pick markets more than long export chains. Excellent for home freezing and pies where aroma matters. Historically important in New Jersey’s blueberry industry. Berries can crack in rain near harvest. Seek for flavour-focused eating rather than maximum firmness.
