Traditional Blackcurrant Cordial

Traditional Blackcurrant Cordial

S tier

Traditional blackcurrant cordial is cooked blackcurrants, sugar, and acid: deep purple, jammy-tart, the British squash-base and Ribena's ancestor in spirit. Dilute it hard. A good bottle smells of crushed leaf and berry, not of only dye. It makes a winter hot cordial and a kir-adjacent splash. High-fruit versions are thicker; this leaf is the classic sweet-tart concentrate.
