Boskoop Giant is an old large-fruited black currant associated with Dutch and northern European gardens—long strigs of big berries, strong musky aroma, and a slightly milder acid edge than the sharpest industrial types when fully ripe. Bushes are vigorous and need space. Historic name recognition still sells plants to flavour-focused growers. Superb for small-batch jam and fresh culinary use; large berries are pleasant to strip by hand. Not always the top machine-harvest choice versus modern Bens. Net against birds. Use surplus in cassis-style macerations with neutral spirit and sugar.
