Tabletop aspartame blend is the blue-packet habit: aspartame plus a carbohydrate carrier, sometimes with acesulfame K to stretch the sweetness and cover the fade. It is how most people ever meet aspartame—in a bowl next to the kettle. Volume looks like sugar; chemistry does not. It will not make caramel. Combined with ace-K it tastes more stable in a hot cup.
