Nilotica shea is the East African subspecies often praised for softer butter texture in specialty markets. It is still shea fat, not a sweet baking nut. A good nilotica butter is aromatic and smooth for its style. A bad product is rancid or mislabelled. Food versus cosmetic grade still matters. Use as fat, not as chopped garnish.
