Connecticut Field
A tier
Connecticut Field is the classic large, bright orange, mildly ribbed jack-o’-lantern pumpkin of New England tradition—big, impressive, and watery-fleshed for carving more than fine pastry. Seeds are plentiful for roasting; flesh can still make rustic soups if drained and concentrated. Vines are vigorous and sprawling. Carve for Halloween; roast seeds; use flesh for stock-based soups with spice. Not the first choice for silky pie. Store cool and dry; check for soft spots after frost.
