Poland China
C tier
Poland China is a large-framed American black breed with six white points (feet, face, and tail tip), developed in the Ohio Miami Valley for heavy carcass weight and efficient growth. Historically a lard-and-meat dual type, modern selection yields substantial muscling with useful fat cover and a reputation for big hams and loins. Culinary use includes fresh roasting joints, hams for curing, and commodity pork from purebred or crossbred stock. The breed influenced the related Spotted pig and remains part of US purebred tradition, though hybrid commercial lines now dominate volume production.
