Shenandoah is a modern Neal Peterson pawpaw selection with large fruit, creamy texture, and milder flavour that many new eaters prefer to strongly musky wild types. Flesh is abundant with manageable seed load for the size. It helped professionalise pawpaw as a market fruit rather than only a foraged oddity. Excellent for farm-stand sales, ice cream shops, and first tastings. Harvest when fruit softens and aroma rises; some fruits drop when ready. Process quickly—shelf life is measured in days.
