Allegheny is another Peterson-era improved pawpaw—medium to large fruit, rich flavour, and productive performance in eastern US orchard trials. Flesh is yellow and custardy with classic banana-tropical notes at full soft ripeness. It pairs well in mixed cultivar plantings for pollination and harvest spread. Strong for pulp processing, regional restaurants, and home freezers. Flavour is a bit more assertive than the mildest new types. Handle like all pawpaws: cold, quick, and gentle.
