Fruit
Dasheri
A tier
Dasheri is a long, slender North Indian mango from the Lucknow belt—yellow skin at ripeness, medium size, and sweet fibrous-leaning flesh with a distinctive grassy-honey aroma. Not as non-fibrous as Alphonso, yet deeply regional in flavour and nostalgia. Fruit packs densely on the tree; the elongated shape is easy to recognise in markets. Fresh eating and aamras-style purees are traditional; also used in pickles when green. More everyday-premium than luxury export in many seasons, though quality fruit travels. Pair with cream, cardamom, or plain chilled as a heat-wave breakfast.
