Fruit
Chaunsa
A tier
Chaunsa is a Pakistani and North Indian premium mango—medium to large, yellow when ripe, with soft, intensely sweet, low-fibre flesh and a heavy perfume that fills a room. Several strains exist (including late and white Chaunsa types); the best fruit tastes almost nectar-like with a soft finish. Skin is thinner than Florida export types and marks easily. Eaten out of hand at peak summer; also pulped for drinks and ice creams in South Asian households. Air freight and careful packing serve diaspora markets. Do not refrigerate hard green fruit for long—ripen warm, then chill briefly if needed.

Chaunsa became Pakistan’s flagship dessert mango for domestic elite markets.
Exports to the Middle East and Europe raised Chaunsa’s international profile.
Strain differentiation (e.g., late Chaunsa) extended the commercial season.
