Savannah goats are a white South African meat breed developed for hardiness, mothering, and carcass quality on extensive grazing—visually reminiscent of white Boers but selected as a separate population with emphasis on environmental fitness. They perform in harsh bush and savanna conditions. Chevon is mild and well muscled for ranch slaughter weights. The white coat helps heat reflection; commercial programmes use pure Savannahs and crosses. Flavour suits both traditional African stews and milder international goat-meat markets.
