Meat
Kalahari Red
A tier
Kalahari Red is a South African meat goat selected for solid red colour, heat and drought tolerance, and good carcass traits on extensive bushveld. Related to local red landrace stock and influenced by meat-goat improvement goals similar to Boer systems, it thrives where shade and browse dominate. Meat is mild-to-medium with solid muscling—excellent for braais, potjies, and export chevon programmes. Red skin can reduce visible scarring on some markets’ carcass preferences. Ranchers value maternal instinct and parasite resilience under arid conditions.
