Jamnapari (Jamunapari) goats from Uttar Pradesh are tall, Roman-nosed, pendulous-eared dual-purpose animals famous across India for milk and substantial meat. They influenced many Southeast Asian goat populations through historic trade. Meat from young Jamnapari is flavourful and fairly lean; larger frames yield more saleable weight than dwarf breeds. Classic Indian preparations—mutton-style curries, biryanis (using goat), and celebratory roasts—feature the breed heavily in its home range.
