Black Bengal

A tier

Black Bengal goats are small, early-maturing meat animals of Bangladesh and eastern India, typically black, highly prolific, and renowned for fine-fibred, high-quality chevon. They dominate household and market meat supply across the Bengal region. Despite small carcasses, the meat is tender, fine-grained, and preferred for Bengali curries, rezala, and festive dishes. Skin quality is also valued. Rapid reproduction keeps local meat flowing without large individual slaughter weights.
