S795 is a classic Indian Coffea arabica selection developed for coffee leaf rust resistance by crossing Kent with S288, a line carrying resistance derived from related Coffea material used in early Indian breeding. It became one of Asia’s most important commercial arabicas, combining reliable yields with a respectable, often spicy-sweet cup under washed or monsooned processing. Outside India, S795 and related selections appear in Indonesia and other Asian origins where rust pressure is high. It is not an F1 hybrid in the modern sense but a fixed selection that shaped twentieth-century arabica production east of Africa.
