Pache is a compact Coffea arabica cultivar originating as a natural dwarf mutation of Typica discovered in Guatemala (often associated with the Pache estate / San Rafael Pache). It is not a Timor Hybrid rust-resistant line; its main agronomic advantage is short stature that eases harvest and denser planting while retaining Typica-related cup character. Two related names appear in the trade—Pache Común and sometimes Pache Colís—describing compact Typica-type plants used in Central America. Cups can be sweet, mild, and clean with classic washed Central American balance, though plants remain more rust-susceptible than Catimor or Castillo.
