Mundo Novo

C tier

Mundo Novo is a natural hybrid of Bourbon and Typica first selected in Brazil and long a backbone of commercial arabica production there. Tall, vigorous, and high yielding under good nutrition, it underpins many later Brazilian cultivars including Catuai through crosses with Caturra. The cup tends toward chocolate, nut, and mild fruit with medium body—well suited to espresso blends and origin coffees when carefully processed. Plants are less compact than Caturra-type varieties, so spacing and pruning differ from high-density systems used for dwarf cultivars.
