Lempira

C tier

Lempira is a Honduran Coffea arabica cultivar selected by IHCAFE from Catimor lineages for coffee leaf rust resistance, short stature, and high yields suited to dense commercial plantings. Named for a national indigenous leader, it was released to strengthen farm resilience and productivity across Honduras’s diverse coffee regions. Flavour is generally mild, sweet, and nutty-chocolate in washed commercial lots, with clearer acidity from higher farms. Lempira is a production-focused resistant variety often grown alongside IHCAFE 90 rather than as a boutique single-variety specialty flagship.
