Kona Typica
A tier
Kona Typica is the traditional Coffea arabica Typica cultivated on Hawaiʻi’s Kona coffee belt, descending from early nineteenth-century introductions. Narrow geographic strip, volcanic soils, and afternoon cloud cover define Kona’s reputation; the cultivar is classic tall Typica with elongated beans and a clean, sweet cup. Properly processed Kona Typica often shows medium body, bright yet soft acidity, and notes of milk chocolate, citrus, and brown sugar. Estate and blended Kona products are regulated in Hawaiʻi; pure 100% Kona lots command premiums when cherry selection and milling are meticulous.
