IHCAFE 90
C tier
IHCAFE 90 is a Honduran Coffea arabica cultivar from the Instituto Hondureño del Café, selected from Catimor material for compact growth, high productivity, and coffee leaf rust resistance. It became one of Honduras’s most widely planted modern varieties during decades of farm intensification and rust pressure. The cup is typically mild and chocolate-nutty in commercial washed lots, with better expression from high-elevation farms. IHCAFE 90 underpins much commodity Honduran supply while specialty producers often diversify into traditional or hybrid varieties for higher cup scores.

IHCAFE selected productive, resistant Catimor lines adapted to Honduran regions.
IHCAFE 90 was released as a national compact, rust-resistant cultivar.
Large-scale adoption transformed Honduran variety maps toward IHCAFE 90 and related lines.
Severe rust years reinforced IHCAFE 90 plantings despite interest in better-cupping alternatives.
IHCAFE 90 remained dominant in commercial production alongside Lempira and newer introductions.
