The plant itself is a traditional Typica type; reputation rests equally on genetics, terroir, and certified geographic production. The cup is typically mild, clean, and sweetly balanced with gentle acidity and low harshness—suited to medium roasts and filter brewing. Outside Jamaica, related Typica may be grown, but true Blue Mountain coffee is defined by Jamaican origin standards as much as by cultivar name.
