Nevada is a chestnut cultivar grown in commercial and amateur orchards for nut production traits suited to temperate plantings outside Europe’s classic chestnut belt. Nuts follow the sweet, starchy chestnut pattern when properly matured and cured. A good Nevada harvest yields full kernels that roast sweetly. A bad season shows small, underfilled nuts from stress. In the kitchen it is interchangeable with other sweet orchard chestnuts for stuffing and roasting. Cultivar choice matters more to the grower than to a recipe’s salt level—but consistent size helps food-service peeling labour.
