Murboden is an Austrian dual-purpose cattle breed from the Mur valley region of Styria and Carinthia, with a blond to light red or spotted coat and medium frame suited to alpine and foothill farming. Beef is moderately marbled, fine textured, and mild when finished on grass and alpine forage, reflecting traditional mixed milk-and-meat systems of southern Austria. Once common as a regional working and dairy-beef animal, Murboden is now a conservation-focused breed with specialty beef and local cheese-dairy links.
