Korean Native
A tier
Korean Native cattle (Hanwoo) are the indigenous brown beef cattle of the Korean peninsula, selected for fine marbling, tender texture, and a distinctive sweet, nutty flavour central to Korean barbecue culture. Pure Hanwoo beef is typically highly marbled when grain-finished under Korean feeding systems and commands premium domestic prices comparable to other East Asian luxury beef types. Animals are medium framed with a yellowish-brown coat and are raised under carefully managed programmes that emphasise pedigree, traceability, and carcass grading. Korean Native beef is served as thinly sliced grill cuts, premium steaks, and traditional soups and braises.

National breeding programmes began improving Hanwoo for pure beef production as mechanisation reduced draught use.
Intensive finishing and grading systems elevated Korean Native beef as a premium domestic luxury product.
Traceability, geographic branding, and quality grades reinforced consumer preference for pure Hanwoo.
