Brangus
C tier
Brangus is a fixed composite beef breed of approximately three-eighths Brahman and five-eighths Angus, developed to combine tropical hardiness with Angus carcass quality and marbling. Polled and typically solid black (or red in Red Brangus), it thrives in hot, humid environments while delivering consumer-acceptable steaks and ground beef. Ranchers across the southern United States, Latin America, and Australia use Brangus in pure and commercial herds. The beef sits between lean Brahman types and richly marbled British beef, rewarding grain finishing for higher grades.
Also known as: American Brangus

History
Experimental crosses of Brahman and Angus cattle in the United States sought heat-tolerant beef with better eating quality.
The American Brangus Breeders Association was organised to stabilise and register the composite breed.
Breed composition settled near 3/8 Brahman and 5/8 Angus with polled black phenotype as the standard.
Brangus genetics entered Australian tropical and subtropical beef herds.
Red Brangus associations developed parallel red composite lines for similar environments.
Genomic tools and carcass evaluation refined Brangus selection for marbling and maternal traits worldwide.
