Braford is a composite beef breed of approximately three-eighths Brahman and five-eighths Hereford, combining zebu heat and parasite tolerance with Hereford maternal ability and carcass quality. Cattle are red with white face markings reminiscent of Hereford, medium to large framed, and produce moderately marbled beef suited to subtropical ranching and feedlot finishing. Developed independently in the United States and Australia, Braford cattle are important maternal and terminal genetics in the southern US, Latin America, and northern Australia. The breed is valued for fertility, hybrid vigour in crosses, and reliable performance on tough tropical pastures.
