Angus

A tier

Angus is a black (and red) polled beef breed originating in north-east Scotland and now among the world’s most widely raised cattle for premium table beef. It is prized for early maturity, consistent marbling, and tender, well-flavoured steaks and roasting joints under grass- or grain-finishing systems. Certified and branded Angus programmes in many countries link the breed name to higher retail grades, though quality still depends on genetics, feed, and ageing. Red Angus shares the breed’s meat qualities with a red coat preferred in hotter climates and some commercial herds.
