Kosui is a smaller russet Asian pear with exceptionally fine-grained, crisp flesh and sweet flavour that arrives early-mid season. Fruit is bronze with a smoother russet than some rough types; size is modest but sugar and snap are high. Trees are productive; fruit can sunburn in extreme heat without canopy management. A Japanese market favourite and a home-orchard gem where early quality nashi matters. Eat chilled soon after peak—smaller fruit dehydrates faster in storage than giants like Niitaka. Lovely thinly sliced over greens with sesame.
